NEWSWATCH: Contradicts Buhari on Agreement with Ojukwu

In a presidential broadcast to Nigerians yesterday, President Muhammadu Buhari had stated that he met with Ojukwu the leader of the defunct Biafra in 2003 after which both men made a conclusion that Nigeria must remain united as one. This broadcast came in light of the renewed agitation for a referendum for the Independent State of Biafra led by Nnamdi Kanu and his IPOB group.

However, the cover of a popular political magazine, Newswatch shows Ojukwu quoted as saying ”I Support Biafra”. That was September 14th, 2004, a year after President Buhari claimed he met with Ojukwu.
Buhari speech in context “In 2003 after I joined partisan politics, the late Chief Emeka Ojukwu came and stayed as my guest in my hometown Daura. Over two days we discussed in great depth till late into the night and analysed the problems of Nigeria. We both came to the conclusion that the country must remain one and united."
This revelation has been greeted with widespread disappointment at the presidents speech as to the veracity of his statement, this is because many of the presidents campaign promises in 2015 have either been denied by the presidency or tossed aside as unimplementable by some of his ministers.
